Effective 15 October 2026 · Scribly: AI Note Taker for iPhone · Thrace Studio
Scribly records audio and turns it into notes. We built it so your recordings and notes stay on your iPhone. This policy explains what the app does with your data.
Recordings, transcripts and notes
- Audio recordings are stored only on your iPhone. Scribly never uploads your audio.
- Speech is turned into text on your iPhone with Apple's on-device speech recognition. The first time you record in a language, iOS may download Apple's language model; that download comes from Apple.
- AI summaries, key points, action items and answers to your questions are created on your iPhone with Apple's on-device model (Apple Intelligence).
- Imported PDFs and pasted text are processed on your iPhone (text extraction and OCR).
- Your notes are stored in the app on your iPhone. They are included in your device backups if you use iCloud Backup or a computer backup; that is managed by Apple and your device settings.
Permissions
Scribly asks for microphone access to record, and for speech recognition to transcribe. You can turn either off in iOS Settings at any time; you can still read, import and share notes.
Purchases
Subscriptions are sold by Apple through the App Store; we never see your payment details. To know whether you have Scribly Pro, the app uses RevenueCat, which receives an anonymous app user ID and your App Store purchase history. This data is not linked to your identity and is not used for tracking. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
What we do not do
- No account or sign-in, and no collection of your name, email address, contacts or location.
- No advertising, no tracking across apps or websites, and no sale of data.
- No analytics service: usage events stay in the app's local log on your iPhone.
Recording other people
Always ask people for their consent before you record them. You are responsible for following the recording laws where you live.
Deleting your data
Swipe to delete a note in the app; this also deletes its audio. Deleting the app removes all of its notes and recordings from your iPhone. To ask RevenueCat to delete purchase data linked to your anonymous ID, contact us.
Children
Scribly is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes and contact
If Scribly ever sends note text off your device (for example, an optional cloud feature for iPhones without Apple Intelligence), we will update this policy first and say exactly what is sent, to whom, and when. Questions or requests: [email protected].
